Home Birth is NOW AVAILABLE through WWHC. Contact us at any point in your pregnancy if you feel that home birth is something that interests you. You might be a good candidate for a home birth if you are considered “low-risk”. If you aren’t sure if you would be a good candidate, don’t worry! We offer free phone consultations to discuss your options.
Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are licensed in West Virginia to care for all women from the time they have their first period until well after menopause. Wise Women Health Care (WWHC) can help you with home birth, annual well-woman exam including a full physical exam, lab tests, sports physicals for your teenagers, and pap-smears as needed. We can also perform STI testing as well as any other vaginal exams for things that you may consider “outside of your normal”. Additionally, we provide consults for preconception, fertility, birth control, irregular/painful menstrual cycles, miscarriage support, uncomfortable symptoms of menopause, and any other general concern that encompasses women’s health.
If you had a hospital delivery but are still interested in postpartum midwifery care at your home- we can help you out! A Certified Nurse-Midwife will be on call around the time of your delivery in order to schedule postpartum home-visits for you and your newborn. These visits will include full assessment of mom, baby, lactation, postpartum depression, and education. Postpartum care services can be ordered in a package of 1, 3, or 5 visits. As an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and many years of experience helping mothers through lactation difficulties, Gail is available for lactation consultation within the privacy of your home or via telephone consult. WWHC can help mothers define what “successful breastfeeding” means to them and help them achieve that goal.
