Questions Frequently Asked By Women Just Like You

How do lab-draws work?2020-05-26T17:08:23+00:00

I utilize LabCorp for all processing of labs, but I come to your home and draw the labs myself. I then get the labs to LabCorp and they process them and notify me of the results.  You can use your insurance for labs if you like, however I do have discounted pricing for cash-pay patients.

What insurances do you take?2020-05-26T17:11:04+00:00

At this time WWHC is not accepting any in-netowrk options for insurance payments.  We have a discounted cash rate of $4500 per birth and offer an excellent financing option through United Medical Credit if you do not have the money on hand.  We will work with health share programs.  Oftentimes, you can submit your receipt to count towards your deductible with your insurance plan.  We can still utilize your insurance to pay for labs and ultrasounds.

What is the age range you care for?2019-04-12T23:39:18+00:00

From menstruation to beyond menopause.

Can you manage my prescriptions?2019-04-12T23:38:47+00:00

If you have current prescriptions, for example: allergy medication or thyroid medication, that you take daily and it has been working for you, then I have no problem refilling it for you. I will not prescribe opiates or medication for pain relief beyond acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

What is your background?2019-04-12T22:28:11+00:00
What is your cancellation policy?2020-05-26T17:23:59+00:00

Please Read the Following Carefully
• Should you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call or text at least 48 hours in advance.

Note: If your insurance requires you to utilize a particular laboratory, you will need to inform WWHC each time you need laboratory services. If you are not sure whether your insurance company requires you to use a specific laboratory, please contact them directly for that information.

How do you ensure my privacy?2020-05-26T17:33:43+00:00

Privacy is one of the main tenets of WWHC. By conducting visits within your home, you will not be running into any other patients.  I utilize an app-based electronic health record called “Mobile Midwife” that is HIPPA compliant, and all information is stored securely.  All patient communication is done via their secure messages portal unless we are doing a telephone consult.  Please click here to review the Notice of Privacy Practices.

How do I get in touch with you?2020-05-26T17:34:40+00:00

Please contact (304)-290-6906

Will I always see you or are there other nurses or providers that I may see?2020-05-26T17:37:30+00:00

I will be your provider at each appointment. However, I do have a team of birth assistants that will be available for your births.  I also contract with other local midwives for the rare occasion that I can’t be in two places at once.  Proper scheduling prevents that situation from happening.

Would my daughter and I both be able to have check-ups the same visit?2019-04-12T22:12:13+00:00

The more the merrier. However, I do encourage each woman to have her own private visit within the home in order to respect individual privacy.

Can I have my yearly GYN check-up in my home?2019-04-12T22:09:04+00:00

ABSOLUTELY.  Your annual exam can be performed in the comfort of your own home including papsmears and yearly laboratory testing.

How do I pay you?2020-05-26T17:06:42+00:00

A $500 deposit is required to hold your spot on the calendar for a home birth.  One half of the $4500 (less the deposit) fee is due by 20 weeks and the remainder of the fee is due by 36 weeks of pregnancy. I accept any form of payment (Cash, Check, Credit).

Where do you store my health records?2020-05-26T17:11:48+00:00

All personal health information is stored on the app-based electronic health record, “Mobile Midwife”.  Any paper copies of consent forms are signed and then uploaded to your files within that electronic health record, which you will have access to 24/7.

So you do sick visits?2019-04-12T23:38:12+00:00

Yes, I am able to provide general primary care/sick visits for women.

Do you have a price list for services?2019-04-12T22:29:19+00:00

Yes, there is a general list of prices for cash-pay patients. Occasionally, there will be a service that is not listed on the price sheet, and I will calculate the cost based on typical insurance reimbursement.  All prices will be provided to you prior to service.  If you decide to bill through your insurance, I cannot guarantee any pricing.  Once the claim is submitted, it is completely out of my control.

Are you affiliated with a hospital or another practice/MD?2019-04-12T22:26:58+00:00

I am an independent practitioner and not affiliated with any hospital. However, I have several fantastic relationships with other local practitioners at both hospitals if a referral is required.

Do I need any special equipment in my home for home visits?2020-05-26T17:25:31+00:00

There is very little required to prepare for your home visit. I will bring a gown/cover for you if you like, otherwise a dress or skirt would be just fine.  It will be necessary for you to have somewhere to lie down for certain parts of your exam, such as a bed or couch.  Please do not worry about cleaning your home for me!  The link to purchase your birth kit can be found here

Do you have a main office?2019-04-12T22:14:57+00:00

I do not have a main office. The “office” is your home or work, and I will come to you.

Are you always available for questions?2020-05-26T17:35:40+00:00

Wise Women Health Care was built around accessibility, and I encourage questions! However, for the sake of organization, it is best if you text the work phone number with your name and request a time for a call.  I will get back to you within 24 hours.  Please do not put health related information in a text message, as I cannot ensure the privacy of your information in a regular text.

What if I get pregnant? Do you do prenatal visits?2020-05-26T17:39:03+00:00

Yes!  All prenatal visits are done with me unless a medical consult with a hospital is necessary for the health and safety of you and your pregnancy.

I have a teen aged daughter. Do you care for teenagers too?2019-04-12T22:11:32+00:00
